MARTIN B. JANSSEN
Martin B. Janssen is a French/German award winning composer born in a cinematographer’s family.
He started composing at the early age of 7 and planed on writing music for storytellers since then. Throughout the years, he has had the opportunity to meet numerous mentors that taught him the difference between the many languages of music.
He then attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in order to get an international understanding of the industry. He has more than a thousand pieces registered and worked on more than 20 documentaries for national television such as Canal+ and France Télévision, he also had the opportunity to write for luxury brands like L’Oréal and Dior in the realm of advertising and eventually became Manhattan Parisienne’s Musical Director for Alain Boublil in New York and the composer/orchestrator for two musicals in Paris. (Snow White / Peter Pan).
He also had the privilege to produce and orchestrate for Ubisoft on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six main theme suite at the World championship finals as well as 10 short movies that brought him to win “best music in a short” at soundtrackcologne.
He is currently focusing his craft on sonic identity for brands and the Metaverse.
I am genuinely inspired by the history of cinema and it’s archeology, the different ways music has been evolving for the use in films. It’s an extremely wide palette, rhythms, tones, melodies, a reflection giving you the opportunity to wake up to a. scene requesting one day the need of a Rumba when the next day a big band writing is the way to go, while already thinking about a hybrid synth electro modern track for an other project. The Time periods have become a language.
Some sort of a stamp collection becoming codes for describing certain emotions on screen. Wether it’s Strauss Waltzes in the “Looney Toons”, Holst in Star Wars, disco music in Saturday night fever or funk music in “Shaft”, these styles are some sorts of audio brandings for emotions. we all have been set for a long time now.
